Based on proprietary DC servomotor technology, Applied Scientific Instrumentation's SZ-2000 automates the focus, zoom and filter controls of stereoscopic microscopes, and a motorized X-Y stage can be incorporated on the base, if required. It offers precision gearing for smooth operation of the control functions, while servomotors with built-in rotary encoders keep track of positioning. Drive units can be installed using clamps or existing mount holes so that no modification of the microscope is necessary. Optional foot switches that permit hands-free operation of any axis have an increment mode that changes to continuous motion after being held down for a second.
