HIGH-SPEED LASER Synrad Inc. has added a small-footprint, 100-W, sealed CO2 laser to its 60- and 80-W firestar series. The firestar t100, available in air- and water-cooled versions, is suitable for high-speed marking, coding, cutting, welding, engraving and materials processing applications, as well as others that require fast scanning and power density. Typical rise time is better than 75 µs, and M2 is 1.1 ± 0.1. The laser can be operated from 0% to 100% duty cycle, with power adjusted via a pulse width modulation control. All models in the series have standardized control capabilities and footprint, facilitating upgrade.
