The NIR-APS application prototyping spectrometer system launched by Axsun Technologies Inc. makes on-the-spot measurements of physical and chemical attributes in real time during process applications. The spectral range is between 1310 and 1800 nm, and communications options include RS-232, Ethernet and wireless. The system measures 178 × 114 × 51 mm, weighs 1.2 kg and operates from –10 to 45 °C. The company says that the analyzers are rugged and accurate and that they can be installed throughout the process stream without extensive plumbing or complex optical interfacing. They can be used to measure the composition of petroleum, petrochemicals and specialty gases, and to monitor driers in the pharmaceutical and consumer-product industries, ambient air in the workplace and process gas in the semiconductor industry.
