The FocusScope from Photron USA Inc. is a C-mounted microscopy camera that synchronizes a 1-kHz, 1000-fps high-speed CMOS camera with a real-time piezoelectric actuator mounted on the microscope's objective lens to produce 30 fps with a depth of focus of up to 130 µm. The images are processed in real time to identify every in-focus pixel in every frame. The pixels are interpolated into one all-in-focus image every 1/30 s. Topographical data for each displayed image are recorded in a gray-scale depth map and, along with the all-in-focus video, are output via two BNC connectors and a Camera Link digital interface in AVI or bit-map formats.
