Rad-icon Imaging Corp. has launched the Shad-o-Box 4K, a stand-alone, high-resolution, radiation-imaging device with a 12-bit digital interface and an integral direct-contact phosphor screen. The x-ray camera has an active area of 10 × 10 cm and more than 4 million pixels. It is suitable for biomedical imaging, x-ray crystallography, medical diagnostics, electronic and mechanical components, beam profiling, contraband detection and nondestructive testing. Dynamic range is 4000:1 at a maximum rate of 3 fps, and data is output at 12 MHz. The camera has a thin, flat panel form factor and comes with ready-to-run software and drivers.
