The 2420 Fiber Geometry system offered by Photon Kinetics is based on the 2400 model and, the company says, improves the precision of several fiber dimensional measurements by an order of magnitude, to only a few nanometers. This precision will enable fiber manufacturers to tighten product geometry specifications. The system offers high-speed fiber handling, visual end inspection and customizable test sequences that use Visual Basic.Net running under Windows XP. The upgraded device supports all of its predecessor's measurement options for coating geometry and fiber curl.
