DIODE LASERS The fiber-coupled diode laser product line produced by Laserline GmbH has been extended with the LDF 200-200. The 200-µm fiber models deliver up to 200 W for soldering and microwelding, and in combination with a scanner unit, for quasi-simultaneous welding of plastics, such as electronic housings. The weld contour is heated by passing the beam at a high repetition rate and without moving the laser head or the parts to be welded. Parts with contours of up to 130 × 130 mm can be joined with a spot and weld seam width of 0.7 mm, and those up to 260 × 260 mm, with a spot of 1.4 mm. The rapid, noncontact process is performed with minimum internal strain and without damage to embedded electronics.
