Double- and single-clad erbium-doped optical fibers for use in EyeSafe lasers and amplifiers are available from CorActive High-Tech Inc. Their high erbium-doping concentration reduces nonlinearities and enables minimum fiber length. High power conversion efficiency allows lower pump power and decreases cost. The unique shape of the pump guide reduces helical mode propagation and increases absorption efficiency. The fibers are coated with acrylate.
