The H8236 series hybrid photodetector modules have been released by Hamamatsu Corp. Suitable for photon counting, they incorporate a patent-pending electron bombardment multiplication process that produces gain of more than 1000. Available in two models, the modules comprise a photocathode, an avalanche diode, a power supply and a preamplifier. The H8236-07 covers from 160 to 850 nm, achieves peak sensitivity of 0.2 V/nW and exhibits quantum efficiency of 15% at 420 nm. The H8236-40 covers from 350 to 720 nm, with peak sensitivity of 0.7 V/nW at 550 nm. Its quantum efficiency is 40% at 550 nm.
