Optocon GmbH has introduced Fotemp 1-N, a fiber optic thermometer designed for temperature measurement in environments with high electromagnetic interference and in microwave fields. It comprises a bifurcated fiber optic probe with a micro-optical cuvette made of gallium arsenide, a light source and a device used for the spectral detection of the band edge position. Probe lengths and configurations are adjustable, and communication is via an RS-232 interface. The temperature range of the probe is from 0 to 200 °C, with ±2 °C accuracy.
