For remote welding, laser materials processing, rapid manufacturing and 3-D applications, Scanlab AG has unveiled the varioScan FC. The system, designed for fiber and fiber-coupled lasers, comprises a variable collimator, a beam expander and focusing optics. The lasers attach directly to it, and air- and water-cooling connections ensure safe and stable operation with laser powers of up to 5 kW. Optical elements are driven by the linAxis linear axis, and the system is designed for use with the proprietary powerScan system.
