DETECTOR SYSTEM LightGage, a two-plane position sensing system unveiled by Laser Tools Co. Inc., uses a dual-beam-alignment, horizontal line laser with precision optical accessories. All components are magnetic on more than one surface to improve X and Y measurement stability and to speed setup time. The system makes flatness and straightness measurements with ±0.001-in. accuracy and 0.0001-in. resolution. The Beam Bender optical setup splits the laser beam into two, 90° apart, and is used for roll alignment in printing presses, paper mills and textile plants. A computer interface enables operation on a PC or PDA.
