SCANNING GALVANOMETER A moving magnet galvanometer for use with 7- to 10-mm beam apertures has been launched by Nutfield Technology Inc. The QuantumScan-7, or QS-7, positions laser beams quickly and accurately for applications in confocal microscopy, fast raster imaging, and high-speed marking, drilling and coding. The compact scanner, incorporating the proprietary side-load reduction technology, has a PID-based servo driver for closed-loop control and a ceramic rotor that provides 150-µs step response. It features low inertia and high torque and feedback.
