The 2500 optical fiber analysis system produced by Photon Kinetics can measure fiber lengths in excess of 17.6 km. Equipped with an ultralong fiber bandwidth option, the multimode system provides measurement at 850 and 1300 nm, a capability that is compliant with international standards. The option enables manufacturers to keep long fiber lengths intact, reducing the number of fiber spools they need to process and inventory and allowing them to offer optical fiber cablers the desired lengths. Earlier measurement technology has required that fibers be cut into pieces less than 8.8 km in length.
