LightTools Version 5.1 has been released by Optical Research Associates for modeling of backlights for flat panel displays. The illumination design and analysis software package can simulate the surface textures used for backlights and can vary the shape, size and spacing of the texture elements. New features include improved stray-light analysis, added filters, enhanced Boolean operations, Bezier and polynomial expressions mathematical methods, and the ability to group filters and to specify surface zones that allow active areas to be interlaced to create 2-D patterns.
