Southern Vision Systems Inc. has introduced the Mavis machine vision inspection system based on high-speed, digital imaging neural network technology. Measuring 3 × 3.5 × 4 in., the system's smart camera offers a 2-µs to 300-ms shutter, consumes 5 W and processes 1024 × 1024 frames at up to 1500 parts per minute. The high-speed USB 2.0 interface provides the bandwidth for digital output, eliminating the need for a frame grabber. Included are a CMOS imager and control electronics, a training mode with real-time image capture, adjustable thresholding, part/reject count logging and internal/external triggering with delay.
