Specialty Motions Inc.'s miniature precision ball and cross-roller micrometer stages are suitable for use with digital micrometers and for reading reducing error. Both stages provide positional repeatability of 0.0001 in. and a 0.003 coefficient of friction. The ball-bearing stages have a straight-line accuracy of 0.0005 in., and the cross-roller stages, 0.0001 in. They comprise an aluminum base and carriages, have a black anodized finish and are available in single, X-Y and X-Y-Z axes. The company says that the stages use fewer parts, reducing stack-up tolerance and cost.
