EYE-SAFE LASER The 1535-nm Cobolt Tango laser manufactured by Cobolt AB is for use in meteorology, 3-D scanning, rangefinding, traffic surveillance and other applications requiring eye safety, fast data collection and extensive measurement ranges. Incorporating a proprietary microchip technology that uses passively Q-switched erbium-doped glass, the laser delivers peak power of up to 2 kW, 3- to 5-ns pulses and TEM00 spatial-mode beam quality while requiring low energy consumption. It includes a photodiode that allows the user to monitor emitted pulses for triggering and distance measurement. The laser is suitable for rangefinding over distances of ±1 km as well as in open areas.
