A range of blazed concave holographic gratings has been launched by Spectrum Scientific Inc. They achieve efficiencies as high as 80% and, the company says, produce low stray light. Fabricated via a proprietary technique that does not use ion etching, the gratings are suitable for use in such analytical instruments as UV/VIS spectrophotometers and flat-field imaging spectrographs. The manufacturing technique maximizes the energy over the required spectral range and yields a blaze profile that varies across the grating surface, resulting in high efficiency at the blaze wavelength.
