FO POLARIZERS Compact in-line fiber optic polarizers for the 980- and 1060-nm wavelengths are available from Phoenix Photonics Ltd. in three configurations: SM/SM, SM/PM and PM/PM. Typical extinction ratio is >40 dB, typical insertion loss is <0.5 dB, and, because there are no bulk optics, no free-space and no internal interfaces to reflect light, backreflection is <270 dB. The instruments can be used for higher-power applications, operating from 1280 to 1625 nm. Packaged in a robust stainless steel tube, they are suitable for polarization state definition, for polarization analysis and control, and for fiber sensors.
