A turnkey instrument designed for testing the next generation of Blu-ray, DVD and CD pickup heads has been announced by 4D Technology Corp. The WaveCam 1000 is a vibration-insensitive wavefront interferometer with a patented single-frame dynamic achromatic phase sensor. Operating with pulsed or CW sources, the device measures intensity and phase in collimated or divergent beams in as little as 30 µs. Its optics are coated and corrected for 780, 650 and 405 nm, the most common data storage wavelengths. The instrument provides zoom imaging and a turret mounting accessory that allows the optics to be changed without realignment. An internal reference laser enables calibration without a point-of-reference source. Proprietary 4Sight interface software provides graphical display measurement setup and data analysis.
