NuSil Technology Inc. has released its Lightspan line of index-matching materials designed to be resistant to fuels, solvents and harsh environments. The line includes fluids, gels, coatings, thermosets and encapsulation materials. The electro-optic systems that are used in automotive, aircraft and plant automation applications are exposed to chemicals and fuels, requiring the use of materials that resist swelling and degradation. LS-5238-10 is an optical fluid made of chemically inert synthetic polymers, and LS-3238 is an ultraclear encapsulation gel composed of a cross-linkable synthetic polymer fluid that protects against dust, moisture and mechanical vibration.
