The QE65000, introduced by Ocean Optics Inc., is a spectrometer that combines detector, optical bench and electronics technologies in a highly sensitive system for use in low-light-level applications such as fluorescence, DNA sequencing, astronomy and Raman spectroscopy. It achieves up to 90% quantum efficiency, with a >1000:1 signal-to-noise ratio and fast signal processing. It incorporates a Hamamatsu back-thinned detector that has a 2-D arrangement of 1044 × 64 pixels and that is responsive from 200 to 1100 nm. The onboard TE cooler cools down to −10 °C to reduce dark noise. Dynamic range is 25,000:1.
