McPherson Inc. has introduced a four-channel fluorescence detector that uses line emission light sources and narrowband filters for discrete wavelength excitation. The system is compatible with the company's high-pressure liquid chromatography flow cells, with volumes ranging from 6 to 24 µl and others available upon request. Optically filtered fluorescent signals are detected by four high-gain photomultiplier detectors that can be configured for series or parallel operation. One of four samples can be delivered to each channel, or the four channels can detect, in series, different fluorescence emission characteristics from fewer samples.
