SUPERLUMINESCENT SLED Exalos AG has released a transmitter optical subassembly, 1550-nm superluminescent LED. The EXS1505-8111 offers high output and a typical bandwidth of 60 nm FWHM. Spectral ripple is <0.1 dB, and the operating current of up to 200 mA generates typical optical output power of 0.5 mW in the single-mode fiber. The LED is supplied in a TO-56 housing with fiber pigtails, including multimode and polarization-maintaining fiber. Applications include fiber optic gyroscopes and sensors, optical coherence tomography and optical channel monitors. The devices are Bellcore GR-468-Core-qualified.
