ES Technology has announced the ES Weld 70, a standard 3-D laser plastics welding system that uses diode lasers manufactured by Lissotschenko Mikrooptik (Limo) GmbH. Maximum welding size is 400 × 600 × 300 mm, travel is at a rate of 1.5 m/s and resolution is 0.5 µm. Diode lasers operating at 808 or 980 nm deliver 10 to 200 W of CW output. The system performs noncontact welding and offers watertight, aesthetic welds as well as accurate confinement of each weld to the area of the joint.
