Leica Microsystems Inc. has introduced its DMI line of inverted microscopes for live-cell research. The family includes automated as well as coded systems, and a manual stand is available to reduce cost. The DMI3000 B is designed for users who work only with transmitted light methods. Along with the DMI4000 B, it is ergonomically designed. The DMI6000 B and DMI4000 B are fully automated, with manual intervention possible at any time. Their fluorescence turret is equipped with up to six filter cubes that move into position quickly, without vibration, at the touch of a button. The fluorescence axis features an internal filter wheel that supports the excitation of fluorochromes in <20 ms.
