SMART CAMERA The VC4038 from Vision Components is a network-enabled smart camera intended for object recognition, gauging, code reading and other applications in robotics, industry, mechanical engineering and medicine. The company says the camera’s processor is roughly equivalent to a 2.6-GHz Pentium PC, enabling the capture of 63 full frames per second. Users can create smart camera applications using vision tools such as VCRT, VCLIB and CCS, and upload them to the 4 MB of Flash EPROM memory. The camera features a 1/3-in., 640 × 480-pixel progressive-scan CCD sensor, a high-speed trigger input and RS-232 and 100 Megabit Ethernet interfaces.
