LIGHT SOURCE Developed by Heraeus Noblelight GmbH, FiberLight is a light source for use in biotechnology and deep-sea research. It is an RF-excited deuterium lamp without electrodes, mounted on a circuit board. Measuring 28 mm and consuming 6 W, it can be used in tight spaces and is well suited for mobile and portable applications. It operates from 185 to 1100 nm, with line spectra also possible. The lamp can be used with an in situ spectrophotometer operating in depths of more than 2000 m to monitor nitrates, bromides and bisulfides in seawater. It operates on lithium batteries and has a built-in fiber optic connector.
