Advanced Thermal Solutions (ATS) Inc. says that its thermView liquid crystal system enables noninvasive temperature mapping to 0.1 °C with spatial resolution in microns, more precise than that with IR systems. As temperature changes, the color response of thermochromic liquid crystals reflects visible light from a surface for detection by optics. The system, which incorporates a solid-state color camera with micro- and macro-optics, a white-light source and a high-speed frame grabber, operates on PC platforms with the company’s thermSoft image analysis software. It provides live image acquisition, color calibration and X-Y data profiles, and disk archiving.
