PHOTO IC DIODE Hamamatsu Corp.’s S9648 photo IC diode offers spectral response close to that of the human eye. Covering the 320- to 820-nm range, the device has a peak spectral response at 560 nm without the need for a visual-compensated filter because it has two active areas on a single chip. The diode, suitable as a replacement for conventional phototransistors and CdS photoconductive cells for light-level measurement applications, has a typical linearity of 0.29 mA, a rise time of 6.0 ms and low output-current fluctuations. It operates at temperatures from −30 to 80 °C.
