IPG Photonics Corp. has announced a family of direct diode laser systems that operate from 900 to 1000 nm and that deliver up to 20 W of optical power via a 100-µm multimode fiber core, with a numerical aperture of <0.13. The DLR series instruments feature passive cooling and offer lifetimes in excess of 200,000 h and wall-plug efficiency of up to 45% from the AC line. They are suitable for use in industrial and medical applications and as replacements for diode laser systems that incorporate bars.
