TLC International has introduced the Gen-3 TLC Phoenix-600 glass cutter, whose operating system is PC Windows-based and whose software for cutting custom shapes interfaces with the AutoCAD platform. The device performs repeatable close-tolerance cutting of curvilinear (filet-corner rectangles, D, arced rectangles) and irregularly shaped products such as windshields and rearview mirrors in avionic, aerospace, industrial and information display applications. The cutting process requires no contaminating oil or water and produces clean after-break edge quality that rarely requires grinding or polishing. A tungsten carbide wheel is housed in a proprietary rotating cutting head assembly that incorporates a single CCD camera for quick setup and target alignment.
