Edmund Optics Inc. has designed and manufactured large-format lenses for use in line- and area-scan cameras. They are compatible with 12k-pixel cameras and produce space resolution of up to 100 line pairs per millimeter. The low-distortion lenses can accommodate 5-µm pixel sizes and sensors measuring up to 90 mm. The company says that, at a maximum aperture of f/4, the lenses provide twice the amount of light throughput that comparable lenses do. Nominal values of 1.4× and 0.7× are available. The 64-mm-diameter lens cell includes locking, a variable iris and an M52 × 0.75-mm front filter thread. Focusing and mounting options are available for common camera interfaces. Applications include web, food/beverage and flat panel inspection, and factory automation.
