TUNABLE LASER Model 4200, manufactured by dBm Optics Inc., is a tunable laser available in a high-power as well as a low-noise version. The former produces more than 6 mW of output, and the latter is suitable for measurements that require a high dynamic range, such as the characterization of fiber Bragg gratings. Both offer 2000 nm/s tuning over 150 nm. Options that can be built in include wavelength reference, a variable optical attenuator and a polarization controller/scrambler. A PC can be used to set and monitor parameters via Ethernet, USB or GPIB. The operator can choose between color touch-screen and all-button operation.
