High-Resolution 'Ice Cube' Cameras for Machine Vision
IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 1 -- Toshiba America’s Imaging Systems Div., a supplier of video cameras for machine vision, research and development and scientific applications, introduces the miniature, high-resolution, progressive scan “ice-cube-size” CCD camera family, the IK-52V (1/2 in.) and IK-53V (1/3 in.). The tiny, 29-mm³ cameras weigh only 45 g each and both feature VGA (video graphics array) resolution. The effective 659 x 494 pixels feature horizontal resolution at 500 TV lines. According to the company, the wide selection of the shutter speed (from 1/60 to 1/100,000 sec.) and non-interlaced shuttering offer crisp, clean images at high speeds. A 60 dB signal-to-noise ratio makes the cameras suitable for industrial imaging environments.
The videographics array outputs to either a frame grabber for data storage or directly to a VGA monitor for immediate review of the captured image. With the manual gain set to maximum, the minimum subject illumination setting is 1 lx at f/1.4 sensitivity. Other features include the internal/external (HD/VD) synchronizing system with an HD/VD input/output that can be easily selected via the rear panel switch.
Toshiba says its small, ultracompact, “ice cube” cameras can be integrated into machine vision systems where size and high-resolution imaging are critical considerations for quality-sensitive inspection. Standard C-mount for lens included.
Toshiba America is the only authorized sales channel for Toshiba brand industrial and scientific video cameras.
