Fiber-coupled diode lasers presented by Laserline GmbH produce up to 3000 W from 600-µm fiber. The company says that these devices provide high efficiency with minimal maintenance. The systems’ compactness and mobility are useful in multistation operations, such as welding and brazing. Beam switches and additional components are offered for these applications, and optics such as double-spot, brazing or welding heads are easily adapted or available. The lasers have a mobile unit that can be supplied with bus interfaces — InterbusS, Profibus DP or Device Net — or can be controlled from a PC via Ethernet.
