The FiBo portable fiber optic connector end-face inspection device has been developed by Promet International Inc. for noncontact geometry testing. The phase-shifting Michelson interferometer uses both 3-D surface mapping and 2-D visual scratch/dig analysis in its vibration-insensitive optomechanical design. Incorporating a 10× magnifier with a fixed focal length, the device produces high-contrast images. With the prealigned adapter system, the user can switch among connectors without adjustment or recalibration. Standard mounts available are ST, FC/PC, FC/APC, SC/PC, SC/APC, LC/PC and LC/APC, and others can be provided.
