Gigabit Ethernet connectivity can be added to most instruments via the iPort FB1000-ST protocol engine offered by Pleora Technologies Inc. The compact board, designed for OEM use, converts digital imaging, video and voice data to Internet protocol and transmits it to PCs over GigE links or LANs at 1 Gb/s. Its programmable general-purpose input/out-put block can measure and control the operation of a system’s conveyors, encoders and cameras. Suitable for use with medical imaging, industrial inspection, security and surveillance, and parcel sorting systems, the engine also is available as FB1000-CL with Camera Link connectivity to Fiber GigE.
