UNIFORM BACKLIGHTING LEDS The Golden Dragon Argus LEDs introduced by Osram Opto Semiconductors GmbH provide uniform backlighting with high-quality color mixing for large display surfaces. Lozenge arrangements comprise two green, one blue and one red LED, which can be combined, either offset or in rows, to form scalable high-intensity backlighting systems. All four LED chips are manufactured in thin-film technology for high luminous efficacy. The lenses spread the light over a wide area because it is emitted sideways over the surface, rather than as a concentrated beam shining upward. The LEDs can be individually controlled to change the color tone. Supplied in a 4-mm-high package, they offer switching times of <100 ns, are vibration- and shockproof, and have a lifetime of >50,000 h.
