LINEAR ACTUATORS The M-2× series high-precision motorized linear actuators announced by PI (Physik Instrumente) LP offer pushing forces to 120 N and speeds to 50 mm/s. The self-contained packages comprise a closed-loop DC or a stepping motor connected to a ball screw or a leadscrew. A nonrotating tip provides stability and motion linearity. Noncontacting limit switches and homing sensors protect equipment that could be damaged by extended motion. An ultracompact version that has a folded drive train is available for use in tight spaces. Stand-alone or PC-card controllers and drivers are available. Applications include micro- and nanopositioning, micromachining and semiconductor test equipment.
