BEAM PROFILER DataRay Inc. has introduced the WinCamD-UCM portable digital beam profiling camera. It has a USB 2.0 interface and does not require an external power supply. The 1.3-megapixel field-replaceable CMOS sensor has 6.7 × 6.7-µm pixels and an 8.6 × 6.9-mm imaged area. The digital camera has a 14-bit analog-to-digital converter, image buffer RAM and an in-head microprocessor. Measuring 115 × 61 × 22 mm, the system has a 44-dB dynamic range and an electronic shutter that is continuously variable from 40 µs to 1 s. It operates at >5 Hz full-frame, and faster with smaller capture regions. Applications include CW and pulsed laser profiling, diode measurements, and optical assembly and instrument alignment.
