The Lasiris reduced-speckle line generator from StockerYale Inc. emits 680- or 810-nm beams and is use-ful for increasing the accuracy of machine vision equipment where the beam is projected on a rough surface. With its low spatial coherence and spectrally broadband beam, the module provides low speckle noise while retaining tight focus. The thermoelectrically controlled temperature of the unit stabilizes the output beam for applications where deviation from the acquired wavelength is unacceptable. Applications include biometrics, semiconductor inspection, 3-D contour mapping and high-accuracy machine vision.
