Optek Technology has released the OVL series high-brightness visible LEDs suitable for outdoor signage and displays. The diodes are offered in blue, green, red-orange and red versions at 470, 525, 618 and 624 nm, respectively. They come in 3-, 4- and 5-mm through-hole elliptical packages with color-diffused lenses. The viewing angles for the 4- and 5-mm ones are 110°/50°, and for the 3-mm, 100°/60°. All of the devices are rated for operation between –40 and 85 °C and are compatible with lead-free soldering processes. Their power dissipation is 130 nW.
