MIRROR SWITCH Electro Standards Laboratories has unveiled QuickSwitch model 6286, a MEMS-based multimode mirror switch that provides gigabyte network switching. The remotely controlled all-optical product enables a fiber optic device attached to its SC Duplex to access either of the networks connected to the A and B ports. The signal is received optically over the fiber strand and redirected by mirror mechanisms. Switch position can be changed via front-panel pushbuttons or by a device connected to the rear-panel remote port. With a loss of power, the unit will default to the A position and continue to pass data. Front-panel LEDs indicate the switch position. A keylock option is available.
