Servo-Robot Corp. has unveiled its LAS-Scan/LWJ inspection and monitoring system for laser welded blanks. Consisting of a 3-D laser vision camera head, an industrial control unit, an inspection software package and options such as the process monitoring station, the system can be interfaced to computer numerical control or robotic welding systems. It can reject a weld that does not meet required tolerances, and it can use the Flexcell system as a joint finder for initial blank setup or periodic checking and machine alignment. Depending on the machine configuration, the system can be installed at several inspection points, in front of and/or behind the laser head and over and/or under the workpiece.
