PORTABLE LIGHT SOURCES The Variable Field Module from Asylum Research is for use with the company’s MFP-3D atomic force microscopy system. The module applies an in-plane magnetic field to a sample exceeding ±2000 oersted with <1-oersted resolution. It features adjustable pole tips, enabling maximum value of the applied field to be increased or decreased, and it incorporates rare-earth magnets to produce the magnetic field so that there is no heating or drift. The device is suitable for conductance, magnetic force microscopy and other applications in which the sample depends on the applied field.
