Vision Components GmbH has released the VC4058 smart camera with computation power of 3200 MIPS. It can acquire full-frame 640 × 480 pixels at 250 fps and has a high-speed trigger input with constant capture delay, enabling jitter-free image acquisition at high speeds. Exposure, readout and image processing can be performed in parallel. An 8-bit color overlay operates in opaque or semitransparent mode so that the user can block out or still see the underlying image. The camera offers 32 MB of DRAM and 4 MB Flash EPROM for program and data storage. It measures ~120 × 50 × 35 mm and weighs ~250 g.
