The S10077 CMOS linear image sensor launched by Hamamatsu Corp. for use in bar-code scanners, analytical instruments and position-detecting devices such as optical encoders is based on a 1024-pixel line sensor with 50 × 14-µm pixels. It includes an on-chip charge amplifier to produce clearer output signals and offers a readout rate of 1 MHz. User-selectable output is 8 or 10 bit. A built-in A/D converter simplifies design and reduces board size. The sensor requires only a single 5V power supply and start and clock input pulses for operation. Spectral response is 400 to 1000 nm, with peak sensitivity at 700 nm. Features include simultaneous charge integration and a variable integration time function.
