Nufern has expanded its ytterbium-doped triple-clad fiber line with the introduction of the PM-YTF5/105/125 and the PLMA-YTF30/300/330. Designed with the Panda stress structure, the polarization-maintaining fibers have an additional layer of glass around the second — or “pump” — cladding, to contain pump light. The glass-on-glass construction enables operation at higher temperatures and facilitates splicing to fiber-pigtailed pumps. When free-space coupling of signal and pumps is required, the glass outer cladding enables the use of a standard ferrule assembly for alignment of the injected seed signal.
